Kamil Ömer Akdağ
Domestic Purchasing Manager, Toros Agri
It is really hard for me to answer this question; I’m not sure I
can express my feelings in just a few lines. During my 37 years
at Toros Agri, I had the satisfaction of always reaching our
goals by refusing to accept something is impossible, creating
alternative solutions, working with a sense of responsibility
and selflessness, and always prioritizing the benefit of the
company. Being a member of Tekfen is to succeed.
My first encounter with Tekfen was in 1981, when I walked into the Tatko building that
served as Tekfen’s head office at the time. I was an inexperienced 23-year old. I had an ap-
pointment with Mr. Ömer Sunman, and I told him I wanted to apply for a job at the Kuwait
Construction Site, but he said, “You are too young to work at constructions. We will give you
some training first. Go to our Heavy Maintenance Unit in Kaynarca and start there.” So I did;
since that day, I have worked at many positions both in Turkey and abroad. I am proud to
have been a member of the Tekfen family for 35 years, through thick and thin. When I look
back, I see countless memories and valuable friendships, and it makes me happy to know
Tekfen was the stage for all of them.
Tekfen’s care for its personnel, its cultural heritage, and the contribution it has made to Tur-
key are all indisputable, and it is a source of joy and pride for me to have played a part in that
contribution. I feel contentment for having worked for my country and my company. May
Necati Akçağlılar and all my friends who are no longer with us rest in peace. I wish health to
Ali Nihat Gökyiğit and Feyyaz Berker, and to all members of the Tekfen family the happiness
of being a part of Tekfen at least for as long as I have.

If, like me, you have spent years under the roof of Tekfen,
you will feel at home in a Tekfen office, construction site,
production plant, or even a company car anywhere in the
world. It’s immaterial which Tekfen company you work in
– you feel like working in each and every one of them.
Whatever your position – you assume whatever job is
needed. You are one big family with all Tekfen companies,
their employees and their families.
I began my professional life when I joined Tekfen at 24,
and I have spent two-thirds of my life here, so Tekfen feels
like a family home. Our principle has always been to work
honestly, undertake good projects, never be unfair, and be
the best at what we do. We always tried to set an example
for our friends coming after us so that this would continue
to be so. We are proud that, given Turkey’s conditions, this
partnership has lasted 60 years; I feel honoured to have
been part of it for nearly 40 years. During this period, we
spent more time with our colleagues than with our fami-
lies, and we created the Tekfen family. Our greatest wish is
for this family to celebrate many more 60 years to come.
Long live Tekfen!
