The “Women Farmer’s Loan” project, launched in spring 2021 with the cooperation of the Tekfen Foundation, the Turkey Waste Prevention Foundation (TISVA), and Toros Agriculture to encourage women entrepreneurs to participate in agribusiness, received an award at the Sustainable Business Awards 2022 in the “Cooperation” category.
Having provided approximately 1.6 million Turkish lira in loans to low-income women farmers in the Aegean and the Mediterranean regions, the project enabled 155 women farmers to firmly stand on their feet and till their lands. The flexible loans from 5,000 Turkish lira to 15,000 Turkish lira allowed idle lands to be cultivated with sustainable farming methods and allocated to agriculture.
