Tekfen Holding has been awarded an 'A (-)' grade in both the Climate Change and Water Security Programmes of the CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project), which aims to change the way the business world functions in order to reduce the effects of climate change and protect natural resources. Tekfen has thus taken its place among Turkey's leaders in these two areas.
In the World Economic Forum's a 'Global Risk Report 2020', the first five of the global risks expected to occur over the next ten years are all in the environmental field. These are extreme weather, failure to combat climate change and achieve compliance in the matter, natural disasters, loss of biodiversity and environmental destruction, and environmental damage and disasters resulting from human activity. In view of the fact that environmental risks are currently increasing day by day, everyone has important responsibilities to fulfil - and this applies especially to public and private institutions.
Tekfen Holding is working to ensure that a sustainable world is created not just for today, but also for the future - and it is in recognition of these efforts that the company has been awarded an 'A (-)' grade by the Climate Change and Water Programmes of the CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project), the world's most powerful green NGO. Tekfen has thus succeeded in becoming one of Turkey's leaders in the fields of Climate and Water. It first began monitoring, measuring and analysing Climate Change data in the year 2010; it has been supplying official reports of a transparent nature to the CDP Climate Change Programme since 2017, and to the CDP Water Security Programme since 2018. The grades were awarded to Tekfen following evaluation by independent institutions.
Speaking of the CDP 'A (-)' grading, Tekfen Group Companies President Cahit Oklap said that over and above its business goals, Tekfen was fulfilling its responsibility to ensure that a more liveable world is handed down to future generations. "The fact that as a result of our efforts in this direction, in 2019 we became one of Turkey's leaders in the fields of Climate Change and Water Security following international evaluation is of great importance to us," he said. "It is especially gratifying that of the five companies that were placed in the 'B' band in Water Security last year, only Tekfen has been promoted to the 'A (-)' band. This is not only concrete evidence that our constant efforts to improve have borne fruit but is also a tremendous source of encouragement for us."
