Tekfen Foundation, performance sponsor of the 44th Istanbul Music Festival

Tekfen Foundation was among the, ''Performance Sponsors with the Highest Contribution'' within the 44th Istanbul Music Festival.

Tekfen Philharmonic gave a concert at UNIQ Istanbul Open Air Theater on Sunday night, June 19, as part of the 44th Istanbul Music Festival. Entitled "Songs the Moon," the concert was directed by the young Uzbek conductor Aziz Shokhakimov.

This was the first time the orchestra gave an open air concert at the Music Festival, accompanying Teona Dvali, the Georgian soprano, Andrej Dunaev, the Russian tenor, and Murat Karahan, the Turkish tenor who was a last-minute surprise addition to the programme.

Tekfen Holding Supports the 20th Istanbul Theater Festival

Tekfen Holding was the performance sponsor of Anton Chekhov's famous play Three Sisters staged as part of the 20th Istanbul Theater Festival.

Players of Hayal Perdesi staged an unusual interpretation of Three Sisters, combining the innovative direction of Aleksandar Poposvski (Macedonia) and the contemporary stage design of Sven Jonke.

Tekfen Foundation among supporters of the 14th Istanbul Biennial...

Tekfen Foundation was one of the bronze supporters of the "Biennial at Büyükada" section of the 14th Istanbul Biennial organized by IKSV. Entitled "SALTWATER: A Theory of Thought Forms," the Biennial was held between September 5-November 1, 2015, and admission was free.

Over 80 participants from Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, the Middle East, Latin America and North America came together at the Biennial, and their works were exhibited in more than 30 venues on both sides of the Bosphorus.

Tekfen Foundation Supports Theater Festival

Tekfen Foundation has become one of the performance sponsors for the 19th Istanbul Theater Festival to be held between May 10 and June 5, 2014. Tekfen Foundation has given its support to King (My Fool) Lear by Altıdan Sonra Tiyatro and Becoming a Rhinoceros 2.014 by Şahika Tekand.

King (My Fool) Lear is an interpretation of Shakespeare's famous play, probably staged thousands of times, as a retelling of the story by the king's fool, the one person nearest to Lear who has the courage to tell it as it is. The play will be performed at Üsküdar Tekel Sahnesi on Thursday, May 15 and Friday, May 16.

Becoming a Rhinoceros 2.014 is an entertaining and fast-paced contemporary comedy written and directed by Şahika Tekand, and will be performed again at Üsküdar Tekel Sahnesi on Wednesday, June 4 and Thursday, June 5. Staged for the first time during the 95-96 season, the play will be re-interpreted by Studio Oyuncuları, founded by Şahika Tekand, on their 25th anniversary.

Tekfen Foundation Sponsors the 13th Istanbul Biennial

The biggest international art exhibition organized in Turkey since 1987, the Istanbul Biennial constitutes an important ground for the latest debates on the arts, as well as playing a role in the rediscovery of the city's history through venues, and introducing contemporary artists from Turkey and many other countries to the international scene.

Scheduled to take place between September 14 and October 20, 2013, the 13th Istanbul Biennial can be seen free of charge. The focus of the Biennial will be the concept of public sphere as a political forum, with the aim of establishing a basis for generating ideas and forms on contested issues such as civilization, barbarianism, democracy, spatial-economic justice and the role of contemporary art.

Ziyaret Tepe Excavation

In 2012, Tekfen Foundation took up sponsorship of the Ziyaret Tepe Tumulus excavations, southeast of Bismil near Diyarbakır, which were started in 2000. Ziyaret Tepe holds the ruins of Tuşhan, a center of the Assyrian Empire on the Tigris. The site will be submerged when the Ilısu Dam is impounded in 2015. So, an international team of experts from Akron University (US), Marmara University (Turkey), Mainz University (Germany) and Cambridge University (UK) are excavating at a rapid pace. Tekfen Foundation's support has enabled the Ziyaret Tepe excavation program to discover valuable information about the Assyrian Empire and reveal artifacts that have created a sensation in the world of archeology.

Support for Ephesus Excavations

In 2012 the Tekfen Foundation sponsored restoration of the Lion's Room, providing funds to support the Ephesus Foundation's archeological work. The Lion's Room, named from its floor mosaic, is in the Terrace Houses section, once home to Ephesus' wealthy elite. The Tekfen Foundation financed restoration of the bird and flower-motif wall frescos.

Sponsor for the 40th Anniversary of IKSV

One of the sponsors of IKSV (Istanbul Foundation for Culture & Arts) since its foundation in 1972, the Tekfen Group is continuing its support for the special celebrations to be held in 2012 for the 40th anniversary of IKSV.
