The new millennium initiated a wave of urban transformation in our major big cities. Istanbul, as the foremost center of this transformation, became bigger in time with its new settlements and subway lines that transform "once in outskirts" neighborhoods into new metropolitan centers. Parallel to this, financial and social life of the city created new demands and need for new concepts. Tekfen founded its Real Estate Development Group in 2000, in order to cater to these needs, primarily with the development of the Group's own properties.

Akmerkez, Tekfen Tower and Taksim Residences are projects that demonstrate the Group's approach to the real estate development business. Akmerkez, recipient of many national and international awards, is one of the most successful real estate developments undertaken in Turkey to date. Tekfen owns a third of this shopping mall, office and residential complex and is also involved in its management.

Tekfen Tower, a 26 storey office building equipped with superior technology, was built on the land of Tekfen's old light bulb factory in Levent. Tekfen Tower's office space was completely rented out, shortly after it became operational in the fall of 2003. Tekfen Services who undertook the management of Tekfen Tower, acts beyond traditional facility management concept and apart from providing services for daily needs of about more that 2000 employees, also organizes seminars, forums, concerts and related activities.

The ISO 9001:2000 quality assurance certificate awarded to Tekfen Real Estate Development Group has been expanded in 2004 to cover the facility management services as well, provided by Tekfen Services.

Taksim Residences Project is based on the restoration of a historical building while preserving its unique architectural features and two new buildings accordingly designed next to it. Taksim Residences, situated between Taksim and Nisantasi, Istanbul's downtown and shopping area respectively, is regarded as the most prestigious residential complex of Istanbul.
 
Tekfen values our urban heritage

Another demonstration of Tekfen Real Estate Development Group's commitment to Istanbul's historical heritage is its support to the Museum Project of the History Foundation. The Group has undertaken the restoration and decoration works of one of the buildings in the Imperial Mint complex of Topkapi Palace, which also serve as the Foundation's offices.
