HEP İstanbul Voted 'Most Sustainable Housing Development'

Tekfen Real Estate's environmentally-friendly housing development HEP İstanbul, took first place in the 'Residential' category at the 'ISBS 2019-Sustainability Award', a competition held in the United States earlier this year.

HEP İstanbul, which is currently home to nearly 3200 people including 437 children, offers a world that includes all the features of 'a good life' to those desiring a high-quality living standard. Putting family life and children as its focal point, the housing development devotes a generous amount of its space to places for social activity, as well as to landscaped areas. It has nearly 1400 square metres of open play space specially designed for children of different age groups; in addition, it has 3 km of walking and cycling paths, as well as swimming pools and areas set aside for sport and other activities.

Designed to create a sustainable environment, HEP İstanbul is a cut above other developments by reason of the high standard of its water- and energy-saving systems, indoor air quality, natural lighting, temperature and humidity controls, and waste management.

The jury of the competition, contained urban design and building experts from Ankara University, Gazi University (Ankara), Texas Tech University, Texas A&M University-Commerce, the American Institute of Architects and the U.S. Green Building Council.

Tekfen Real Estate's Acting General Manager Emre Ülger said: "We set out on this journey at the end of 2014 with the concept of 'a good life' in mind; today HEP İstanbul is home to nearly 3200 residents, and is the most popular and sought-after development in the area. In the 'Best Sustainable Projects' competition, held during the International Sustainable Buildings Symposium that took place in Dallas, USA, for the fourth time this year, HEP İstanbul was awarded first prize in the 'Sustainable Residential Developments' category. The Tekfen tradition of making a contribution to the environment has thus been rewarded. We are sharing this award, which is a great honour for Tekfen and HEP İstanbul, with everyone who has played a part in carrying out this project."
