Tekfen Holding Wins an Award for its Woman Board Members

Tekfen Holding has received an award in recognition of the fact that it has 4 women, of whom 3 are independent directors, on its Executive Board. The 'Women-Empowered Board' Award was presented at the 'Women on Executive Boards in Turkey' Conference.

The conference, the sixth of its kind, was organized by the Sabancı University Corporate Governance Forum and took place in Istanbul on 27 November 2018. During the proceedings, the 'Women on Executive Boards in Turkey' report for 2018 was presented. According to this report, out of the 403 companies listed on the Stock Exchange, Tekfen Holding came third in the listings for the proportion of women on its Executive Board, and was thus deemed worthy of a 'Women-Empowered Board' Award. First in the listings was Doğuş Otomotiv, while Tat Gıda ('Tat Foodstuffs') came second.

Receiving the award on behalf of Tekfen Holding, Chairman of the Borad Murat Gigin said that Tekfen attached great importance to redressing the balance between the sexes in society. "Despite the fact that in Tekfen's areas of activity - industrial and infrastructure contracting, and agri-industry- the number of female employees is comparatively smaller than in other sectors owing to the nature of the work involved, we still employ a considerable number of women; in particular, women have important responsibilities in the field of engineering," he said.

Tekfen Holding currently has four women (Cansevil Akçağlılar, Gülsüm Azeri, Çidem Tüzün and Neriman Ülsever) serving on its 11-member Executive Board, and three of these four are independent directors.
